I'm planning on making an icon using a screencap, which can be found below the cut. You may notice that the animation is very slow. I use VirtualDub, CamStudio, and ImageReady. Hey everyone (: I really don't know how to make an animation with screencaps. I want to make a mini-movie icon.
Every tutorial I can find is for Photoshop or something else, but I'm using Gimp.

Does anyone know a tutorial for that?

Almost all the tutorials I've seen people use screen caps instead of actual videos. Why? Wouldn't it be easier to use videos, or is it about the same? Is there an advantage of using caps or video?

Oh I was also wondering what is the best way to make screen caps?

I'm using KMPlayer to get part of video what I want and I use Any Video Converter to change file type to mpg but it change the size of my video too and there isn't any way to get it exactly or similar to the original size (i've tried with the chooses what program gave).
